ABOUT TABLE POUNDING RECORDS

Table Pounding Records is an artist-led production/musical development company and record label for projects celebrating human connection. It is home to projects bringing together artists from different genres/disciplines to create meaningful new hybrid work.
As an incubator and producing partner, it has helped produce large-scale concerts, events and benefits in neighborhoods around New York City, as well as nationally and internationally. Table Pounding Music strives to create a platform for music that challenges conventional categories and seeks to innovate and explore.

Table Pounding Records LLC was founded as a small, independent label by clarinetist, composer, bandleader and cultural visionary David Krakauer in 2010 with the release of the 10-piece supergroup Abraham Inc's debut album Tweet Tweet. Since then, Table Pounding Records has expanded to include the sounds of over 50 composers, songwriters, musicians, and production team members within its Community. At the heart of Table Pounding Records is a constant search for identity and a distinctive voice, and it is home to a collection of recordings that blur boundaries and genres.

In 2017, pianist, composer and producer Kathleen Tagg came onboard to found a production wing of the label, as a companion to the record label .Table Pounding Records is now an umbrella production company for concerts, residency activities, and musical dialogue and composition projects. In 2017, Table Pounding Records produced a series of concerts to benefit the ACLU at Symphony Space in New York featuring luminaries such as Abraham Inc., Marc Ribot, musicians of the Silk Road Ensemble and others. Other recent project partners have included the National Sawdust Ferus Festival, Yellow Barn, and the Pierre Boulez Saal.  
All Table Pounding Records projects explore the idea of identity from multiple angles, in the knowledge that we are all connected, but that in each person’s individual quest to find their place in the world, we see our own quests reflected across cultural boundaries.
